As I said above, the compressor has high-pressure inflation even higher than some other big-size ones. It can pump up to 150 PSI, meaning you can inflate the big tire with ease. There are one thing making this model unattractive; it doesn’t have both the LCD or LED screen, AirMoto so you have to check the pressure on the clock like other classic compressors. If you like a very lightweight compressor that can move to four tires of a car easily, then this model is for you. But remember to bring the backup batteries. Another modern model compressor in this list, meaning it contains all features you expect such as LED screen, automatic shut off, or Cigarette lighter socket. The motor of this portable air compressor is powerful, which can inflate a standard car tire for about 3 to 5 minutes. Bonus, the cord of Helteko has high durable construction as it is made from high-quality plastic and stainless steel.

When recommending portable air compressors, we take five features into account. We start with the amount of power the air compressor can produce. There are two main characteristics of air compressor power: Cubic Feet per Minute (CFM) and Pounds per Square Inch (PSI). CFM refers to how much air the air compressor can deliver per minute (the volume), while PSI measures the force of the air. These two characteristics work together in a crucial balance to satisfy the needs of your application. For example, if you're using a tire inflator, airbrush, or dental tools, then having high pressure is more important than high volume. The opposite is true for paint sprayers, nail guns, and Airmoto other tools where you need more volume. Many of our best air compressor categories are based on application, so you can be sure we're recommending the product with the best PSI or CFM-whichever is needed. Finally, both CFM and PSI are determined by the motor's horsepower, which is another aspect of power we consider, along with the voltage requirements.

This is a premium machine that’s built to last. The quality is reflected in the high price, which is fair considering its size and performance. The only downside with this design is that it’s prone to vibration and movement. That’s a common issue with upright air compressors. Pancake air compressors like the Bostitch don’t usually have this issue. The Makita Big Bore is the most powerful portable air compressor on our list. With an impressive 2.5 HP electric motor delivering 4.2 CFM at 90 PSI, this machine will handle more demanding jobs with ease. The twin tanks have a combined capacity of 4.2-gallons, which lets you run your tools for longer before the compressor has to kick in again. While this compressor has an electric motor like the rest of the products on our list, it’s the only one that requires oil. This means you’ll need to provide regular maintenance to keep it running efficiently. The only benefit here is that the pump should last longer.

However, although wary of these plastic parts, users have not reported any issues with pieces breaking even after several years of use and Bostitch offers a one-year warranty to protect your purchase. Why did it make our list? What is not ideal about it? This air compressor from Senco is somewhat smaller than the pancake-style portable air compressors in our roundup, but weighs in at only 20 pounds. For that reduced weight, you still get a one-gallon steel tank and up to 120 PSI air pressure - enough to run most air tools short of an air drill that needs continuous air. The flow rate of 1.0 CFM at 90 PSI is also lower than pancake compressors, but should be enough to power tools like nail guns and framing guns as well as for inflating tires. Users appreciated that the compressor is also quiet enough to hold a conversation, which cannot be said for most larger compressor units. The small size is the real selling point of this unit, since users love how easily it tucks away in the back of a car or on a shelf in the garage when it’s not in use.
